It is with great pleasure that the Niels Lan Doky International Jazz Collective presents The Horizon Within — an exclusive solo piano concert by Niels Lan Doky at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 20:00.
Exactly one year after his sold-out solo debut at Louisiana, Niels returns to the museum’s Concert Hall for another deeply personal musical journey. The Horizon Within invites the audience into an intimate, reflective dialogue between artist and instrument — where structure and spontaneity intertwine, and where every moment becomes a story told through sound.
For Niels Lan Doky, the solo piano setting represents the purest and most revealing form of expression — a space where emotion, memory, and improvisation merge. The performance will feature both original compositions and spontaneous explorations, created entirely in the present moment. Each piece unfolds organically, shaped by the room, the audience, and the artist’s state of mind — ensuring that no two performances are ever the same.
Hailed as “the best pianist of his generation” (Swing Journal, Japan), “fresh and provocative” (The New York Times), and “one of the most important European pianists of the last 50 years” (El Diario, Spain), Danish-born Niels Lan Doky has performed on many of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Royal Albert Hall. Over the years, he has collaborated with icons such as Pat Metheny, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, and Ray Brown, as well as major classical orchestras including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Copenhagen Philharmonic.
Knighted by HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark in 2010 and recognized internationally as a Bösendorfer Artist, Niels Lan Doky continues to bridge jazz tradition and innovation with emotional depth and lyrical sophistication. His music captures the essence of what it means to be present — fully and authentically — within each note.
