‘The Radius Of Now’ - Out Now

The Radius of Now – The First Glimpse of Mayte's Dream

June 19th marks the release of The Radius of Now, the first piece of music from my upcoming solo piano album, Mayte's Dream.

This album began in the most personal and intimate way imaginable. My fiancée, Mayte Garcia, loves falling asleep to peaceful music, and over time I found myself sitting at the piano late at night, improvising gentle melodies for her. These recordings were never intended for an audience. They were simply small musical gifts, created out of love, comfort, and a desire to bring calm into our home.

What started as a handful of private moments gradually evolved into an entire album. When Mayte heard the recordings, she encouraged me to share them with others, believing they might offer listeners the same sense of peace, reflection, and serenity that they had brought her.

Music Born from Stillness

As musicians, we often spend our lives performing in front of audiences, communicating through energy, interaction, and movement. Mayte's Dream comes from a very different place. It is music created in silence, at the edge of sleep, where every note is allowed to breathe and where simplicity becomes its own form of expression.

"It is the softest and slowest music I have ever played," I often find myself saying when describing these recordings. "Composition is really improvisation in slow motion - a journey where each note leads to the next. Playing with Mayte's dream state in mind was a profound and beautiful experience."

The result is a collection of deeply personal solo piano pieces that embrace vulnerability, patience, and stillness - qualities that can sometimes feel increasingly rare in our modern world.

The First Step of the Journey

The Radius of Now offers the first glimpse into this musical landscape. It is an invitation to pause, to listen deeply, and to reconnect with the present moment.

In the months ahead, I will be sharing more music from Mayte's Dream leading up to the album's release later this year. My hope is that these recordings may offer a small refuge from the noise of everyday life and remind us of the beauty that can be found in simply being present.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you.

With gratitude,

Niels
