Da den internationalt anerkendte danske jazzpianist og komponist, Niels Lan Doky, udgav sit debutalbum tilbage i 1986, skrev den prominente amerikanske skribent Dan Morgenstern: “There is nothing more encouraging and satisfying than to encounter for the first time a young Jazz musician of real stature, someone who can make you feel that the future of the music is in good hands. There can not be the slightest doubt that Doky’s talent is of real significance that rare thing in the Jazz of our time, an original voice in the great tradition”. Siden da har Niels Lan Doky udgivet 44 albums, blevet kaldt “the best pianist of his generation” og fortsætter med at have en af de mest omfattende karrierer, der er set inden for jazzens verden, som - foruden at optræde, arrangere, komponere og producere musik - også omfatter filminstruktør, forfatter, spillestedsejer, foredragsholder med mere. Han blev slået til ridder af Hendes Majestæt Dronning Margrethe II af Danmark i 2010, har holdt TEDx-talken “How Jazz Wisdom Will Change Your Life”, optrådt for pave Jean Paul II i Vatikanet og har optrådt på bestsellerlister i Europa og Asien.

I 2022 har Niels Lan Doky for første gang siden corona kunnet genoptage nogle omfattende internationale turnéer og efterspørgslen har været overvældende. Doky har turnéret det meste af sommeren 2022 rundt i Europa med Billy Cobham, Randy Brecker, Bill Evans og Linley Marthe som Modern Standards Supergroup. Derudover drog han afsted med Darryl Jones, Harvey Mason og Bill Evans med Jazz/Takes Supergroup i efteråret 2022 og skal afsted igen i foråret 2023.

BAG OM DERES VINYLUDGIVELSE
”YESTERDAY’S FUTURE”

Niels Lan Doky trio’s seneste plade udkom på vinyl og streaming (samt CD i Japan) d. 2. juni. Pladen med navnet, "YESTERDAY'S FUTURE - Live at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art” udgives på vinyl d. 26. maj (pre-order start d. 7. april) og på streaming d. 2. juni. Pladen består af live optagelser fra en forårskoncert på Louisiana, som fejrede forårets første dag med en helt speciel musikalsk hyldest til livet og lyset. Pladen byder på både nye og gamle originale kompositioner af Niels Lan Doky, som akkompagneres af de to enestående danske musikere og tvillinger, bassisten Tobias Dall og trommeslageren Nikolaj Dall. Et større værk af maleren Per Kirkeby indgår desuden i pladens album cover artwork.
