In connection with our reopening at a new location we have decided to change our name. As of September 12th, 2017 The Standard Jazz Club will now be called:

We have always been primarily about the music, secondarily about the artists performing it and thirdly about the locations where our shows are held. Just like other artistic organizations who share similar values (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Cirque Du Soleil a.o.) we are a highly devoted team on a quest for ultimate excellence, and we feel that our name should reflect the team above all. In this new chapter of our existence we are raising the bar by forming an international collective of top level artists from around the world including, for starters, South America, North America and Europe. We thank all involved for their time, effort, talent and commitment as we embark on this new journey together.

Our new home base, the “Vineyard” room at Hotel Danmark has a very special meaning to us. It bears the same name, only in English, as Copenhagen’s legendary jazz club “Vingården” that operated in the 1960s and 1970s and where a lot of the first American jazz expats played alongside Danish musicians and where our music director and founder, pianist Niels Lan Doky, had his professional debut in 1976, at the age of 13. Furthermore, Brøchner Hotels who own Hotel Danmark, has a longstanding relationship with the jazz world. For over forty years, the Brøchner family’s hotels have been the home-away-from-home for a vast array of some of the greatest artists in jazz, whenever they are in Copenhagen to work. We feel honoured to be connected to these legacies and look forward to a new and exciting collaboration and partnership with Brøchner Hotels.
